Sunday Flowers

A little wild, a lot of heart

Sunday Flowers is a small florist in Brunswick East. We buy at the Epping flower market before sunrise, choose what is at its best that week and arrange it loosely, so it looks gathered rather than assembled.

For no reason at all

Flowers are not only for anniversaries. A jug on the kitchen bench changes the feel of a whole week, and the best bunches are often bought on a whim. Our market bunches start at $65 and change with whatever looked best that morning.

What’s in season

Spring in Melbourne means ranunculus, anemones, sweet peas and the first garden roses. Lilac stays for a few short weeks and peonies arrive in November. We buy what is at its best and tell you honestly when a flower is out of season.

In the studio this month: Ranunculus, Anemone, Sweet pea, Lilac, Garden rose, Sweet William, Foxglove, Peony, Cosmos, Japanese maple, Delphinium, Snapdragon, Iceland poppy, Waxflower.

Something to keep…

Add a vessel from a maker we love, a beeswax candle or a block of chocolate from down the road. They stay on the shelf long after the flowers have gone.
